This work started as a study of the history of Rowley Farm in Holt, Worcestershire. Due to the interplay between other farms and farmers within Holt parish and its neighbour, Little Witley, it rapidly developed in to a study of the histories all the farms in the two parishes.
In addition to individual farm histories the following chapters outline the earlier history of England, Mercia and Worcestershire. An attempt has been made to demonstrate how events in national and regional history have influenced the development of the two parishes.
The authors of this work are keen family historians and so have included as much information as possible that might be of interest to others that may be studying families connected with the two parishes.
Information and data has been collected from a variety of printed, and more recently Internet, sources. This work represents an interpretation of the known facts, events and dates. As more information comes to light this interpretation will invariably be subject to some degree of alteration.
