Chapter 8: ETHEL LOUISE SEVIOUR of SHEPTON MALLET, SOMERSET |
|
Ethel Louise Seviour was the first born of John
and Louisa (Chapter 7). She was born in Shepton Mallet in about 1886.
According to a family story she alienated her mother and sister Nora by
marrying a first cousin, widower William
John Seviour (see chapter 6).
The eleven children born to Ethel Louisa and William John attended Cranmore School during the 1920s and 30s. One of these children, Kathleen, served in the NAFFI at Marston House near Frome where her fathers old regiment, the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards was billeted in 1941. The sixth child, Edwin (known as Ted) lives in Bristol. One of his sons, Martin, married a Moslem girl from Uzbekistan. The marriage took place in a remote village near Samarkand and was attended by many Seviours including Ted and Sylvia, and the British Ambassador. Martin and Gulsara live in Tashkent and now have a son, Anvar.
