Chapter 2: James Eggleton (b.c1726 d.1817)

Our earliest known Eggleton ancestor is James Eggleton who was born in about 1726. Mary, his wife, was eleven years his junior. The couple had their first child in 1758, followed by at least five more, all born in the parish of Broad Blunsdon, near Swindon, Wiltshire.

James was probably an agricultural labourer. He died in 1817. His widow died two years later.

James and Mary’s children William (chapter 3) and John (chapter 8) are know to have had families of their own.
